Honey Show 2000 Schedule
Our honey show will be held at 7.30pm on Thursday 12th October 2000 at the Newent Centre. Entries are to be made on the night of the show by 7.15 pm.

a photograph relating to bees or beekeeping |

one jar of granulated honey or soft set honey |

one jar of heather honey |
|
6 |
a set of beeswax candles made by any method |

one cut comb |

8 |
one shallow comb for extracting |
|
9 |
6 small honey biscuits or cookies (not in paper cases) - recipe to be submitted as well |

10 |
one bottle of mead |
|
11 |
a beekeeper's gift pack (a present to someone from a beekeeping household) |
|
12 |
one plain mould of beeswax - 4 oz minimum |
|
13 |
an unusual beekeeping item (novelty, instructive, decorative, etc.) |
The judging will be done by Mr Mike Hunt & Mr A Taylor (mead). A member can make more than one entry for any class but can only take one prize in each class.

All exhibits shall be labelled with small labels supplied by the Secretary |

Exhibits must be staged by 7.30pm on the night of the show |

3 |
Comb honey section must show a clear face of at least 3" x 2" |

4 |
All run honey must be exhibited in British Standard 1lb jars with plain screw tops |
|
5 |
Wax must be exhibited in one cake (plainly moulded) see note on weight |
|
6 |
Mead must be shown in clear white bottles without markings - 27oz or one sixth gallon capacity |
|
Committee Cup |
To be awarded to any member of Newent Branch gaining most points in the show |
|
Amateur Cup |
To be awarded for most points gained by a person who has been a member of Newent Branch for not more than seven years. This cup can only be won once by the same person |
|
Beginners Plate |
A beautifully hand painted plate to be awarded to a newcomer to beekeeping, gaining most points in Show and who has not previously won a trophy at Newent Branch Honey Show |
|
Mead Tankard |
A handsome inscribed pint tankard awarded for the outstanding Mead exhibit in the Show. |
