BRITAIN’S BIGGEST MARITIME EVENT

If you have any interest in things maritime, them get you diary out and make a date to visit Britain's biggest maritime event, involving more than 1,000 ships that will take place this summer at Portsmouth.

The International Festival of the Sea will be at the town's naval base from August 24-27 and on show will be 30 tall ships and 50 Navy vessels.

The festival includes: An armada of Tall Ships and hundreds of classic boats, as well as historic ships such as the Mary Rose and Nelson's flagship Victory; A multi-national Naval Fleet display; Three miles of quayside views; Twelve hours of non-stop entertainment every day including thousands of musicians and performers; The Band of HM Royal Marines and aerial displays by the Fleet Air Arm and the RAF.

Organisers hope to attract 300,000 visitors to the four-day event, which will include themed areas on a 300-acre site.
