BODY FOUND AFTER SEARCH FOR MISSING MAN

Belfast Coastguard has recovered the body of a 32-year-old man following a second search later this afternoon.

At 11 a.m. on 9 April 2001 a coastal search was launched at St John's Point, near Dundrum Bay for the man form the Downpatrick area of Northern Ireland when a family member reported to Police he was missing.

The missing man’s car was located south west of Killough but there was no other sign of him.

The search, co-ordinated by Belfast Coastguard included Coastguard Rescue Teams from Newcastle, Ardglass and Kilkeel, the RNLI inshore and offshore lifeboats from Newcastle; air assets searching included a rescue helicopter from RAF Aldergrove and a Police surveillance aircraft
