CLIFF FALL GIRL UNCONSCIOUS

Aberdeen Coastguard called out three Cliff Rescue Teams (CRT’s), Dunbeath, Wick and Helmsdale to a 17-year-old girl who plunged 80ft over the top of a cliff in the Scottish Highlands.

The teenager is believed to have been abseiling at Latheronwheel, about 18 miles south of Wick in Caithness.

She fell off the cliff and apparently bounced once before coming to rest on a ledge 20ft above water.

The girl, who had been with family members at the time, was unconscious.

The coastguard teams got assistance down to the girl and prepared her for winching.

The teenager, who had been wearing a hard hat, was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where she was being treated for arm and shoulder injuries. Her condition is not believed to be life threatening.
