COASTGUARD ASSIST POLICE IN SEARCH

Local Coastguards and members of the inshore lifeboat crew assisted in the search for a man believed to be Sunnyside Royal Hospital patient Kevin O’Brien, who has been missing since last Friday.

A 30-strong search party was mobilised at Montrose Police Station, with officers drafted in from across Angus and the Dundee-based Dog Section involved.

Following a briefing, the search team swung into action, concentrating their efforts on the strip of land straddled by the Basin and the railway line.

The body of a 40-year-old man was subsequently discovered in scrubland at Tayock near the north-east edge of Montrose Basin.
