BODY RECOVERED FROM FOOT OF CLIFFS

A Coastguard rescue team recovered the body of a 60-year-old woman from the foot of cliffs near the Mullion Cove Hotel in Cornwall and it has been taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The emergency services were called after a guest at the hotel spotted a woman's body on the sands below.

Police investigating the death have arrested a 40-year-old man.

Both the victim and the arrested man - neither of who have been named by police yet - are from outside the West Country.

Police are continuing to investigate her movements from Sunday evening to when her body was discovered and are keen to hear from fishermen who may have been working nearby, or people out walking in the Mullion area on or after 8pm on Sunday.
