Southern 128/01 31 July 2001 CHILDREN PLUCKED FROM THE SEA Dover Coastguard says that paramedics have treated three children after being plucked from the sea in two separate incidents. Coastguards requested the launch of a lifeboat from Walmer to the scene of the first incident, close to Sandown Castle beach, near Deal, Kent, at around 4.30pm on 29 July 2001. Two children were taken to hospital by ambulance after they were pulled from the water but they had not suffered serious injuries. In the second incident, at Littlestone-on-Sea, Kent, the mother of a young boy saw the youngster fall from the side of a dinghy and dialed 999. The boy was brought ashore unconscious and taken to a waiting ambulance. A Coastguard spokeswoman said: "The children involved in the first incident are OK. They were checked at a local hospital but have been released. "The child involved in the second incident was a six-year-old boy with his father. We are not sure of his condition yet but we understand he is with paramedics." |
