BOYS TRAPPED ON CLIFF EDGE

Portland Coastguards scrambled a rescue helicopter to winch two boys who had become trapped on a cliff ledge by the incoming tide at Beer last night.

David Nearn, 14, and Adam Padmore, 11, were winched more than 200 feet to safety and landed on the cliff top at Beer Head after being cut off by the tide.

The boys who were on holiday from Wokingham, Surrey, had started to walk from the beach to Beer Head along the rocky foreshore early in the evening when they realised they were trapped.
