TEENAGER IN CLIFF FALL

Portland Coastguard coordinated the rescue of a teenager shortly after 5pm on 7 August 2001 after reports that the boy had plummeted from the cliffs at Sandy Bay, Exmouth.

Coastguard requested the launch of the Exmouth inshore lifeboat and scrambled a rescue helicopter.

The 19-year-old who was found unconscious on the beach below as the tide was coming in was airlifted to the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital with serious injuries after being treated at the scene by paramedics.
