SEARCH FOR MISSING SURFER

A surfer sparked a major search operation along a 15-mile stretch of coastline after he was forced to abandon his board on a Milford Haven beach.

Coastguards have said the surfer left his board in a hurry at Amroth beach because his son had had an accident on a skateboard and needed to be taken to hospital.

The abandoned board led to a five-hour search involving RAF and police helicopters, lifeboats and volunteers.

It was called off after the owner of the surfboard came forward.
