6-YEAR-OLD HURT IN CLIFF FALL

Milford Haven Coastguard were contacted on 6 May 2001 after a six-year-old boy suffered serious head injuries after falling 20ft down a cliff face at a location known as Iron Bar Steps, Tenby, Pembrokeshire.

Coastguard scrambled a helicopter and airlifted the boy to Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest.

A spokesman for Milford Haven coastguard said the boy fell onto rocks and hit his head.

The spokesman said: "It was a nasty fall and with a head injury it is always serious. We're not entirely clear about the circumstances that led up to his fall.

"The coastguard attended and assisted by helping to get him into the helicopter but we don't know what his condition is now."

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police said it was too early to establish how seriously ill the boy is.
