WRECKAGE OF LIGHT AIRCRAFT FOUND OFF ISLE OF MAN

Liverpool Coastguard was called at 2:30 p.m. on 6 June 2001 by Isle of Man Air Traffic Control to report that the twin engined craft, which was on its way from the Isle of Man to the mainland had gone down one mile east of Ronaldsway Airport with one person on board.

The Beach 58 plane disappeared off radar screens seconds before it was due land at Ronaldsway Airport on the southeast coast of the island.

An RAF Seaking from RAF Valley, the Port of St Mary Lifeboat, the Douglas Lifeboat, the Ronaldsway Rescue Boat and the Manx Coastguard Rescue Team were all requested to begin a search and a couple of fishing vessels also volunteered their assistance with the search.

Jed Lynch, Watch Manager said, "Wreckage of the aircraft was found at around 3:30 p.m. close to where the craft was seen ditching. It has now been confirmed as being that of the aircraft".
