CHILDREN RESCUED FROM RISING TIDE

Milford Haven coastguards were called to a beach north of Llanrhystud, near Aberystwyth, at 4.30pm on Monday 23 July 2001 to bring a party of 14 to safety.

Coastguards rescued the group of 12 schoolchildren and two adults when they became trapped by the tide.

The children aged 15 to 16 and from Kings School in Worcester, are believed to have been on a field trip with two teachers when they were cut off by the incoming tide.

Newquay inshore lifeboat picked the group up from the bottom of a cliff and ferried them on to a larger boat and transported them back to the shore.

A spokesman for the coastguards said none of the group was seriously injured.
