MT 'Willy'
|
The 3070 tonne Cypriot tanker, 'Willy', ran aground at Cawsands on the
west side of Plymouth on New Year's Day. The hull was severely damaged and
the engine room flooded.
During the initial incident the Tamar Coastguard Rescue Team assisted
three of the non-essential crew off the ship to the shore. The crew
climbed down ladders and were helped across the rocks by the Team. The
other nine essential crew members, including the Master initially remained
on board.
