These are some examples of Federal issue leatherwear. At the top, the .69 Calber box is on the the infantry belt. This was a bigger box to accommodate the bigger .69 cal round - one round ball and three smaller balls (or known as 'three cheers and a tiger').

The bottom set has the standard .58 & .577 Cartridge Box for the newer rifled weapons.

In both cases, two items of equipment is missing; the box sling and breastplate that the cartridge was generally suspended to.
