More US Tour Dates Announced

Coldplay will embark on ANOTHER US tour this year, concentrating mainly on the West Coast - but also popping across the border to perform a number of dates in Canada.

The tour will commence on the 20th of May in Edmonton (Canada) and will comprise of 16 dates, ending up in Madison Square Garden, New York on the 13th of June!

Further information will be announced early next week, but until then you can pop along to the gigography and find out more about the tour and the venues to be played.

Clocks - TV Premiere!

TV premiere on MTV - Friday 7th February @ 7pm

Coldplay's new video for their next single, Clocks, will make it's TV premiere on MTV tonight (7th Feb.) in the UK.

In related news, Coldplay have also been confirmed to play live on the Jay Leno show on Monday 10th February. The band will probably perform Clocks, as they did on the Jimmy Kimmel show recently, to coincide with it's release as the latest single to be taken from A Rush Of Blood To The Head.

4th February
Clocks - It's About Time!

released in the UK on 24th March

Finally we have official confirmation (although it has been unofficially known for a while now) that Clocks will be the third UK single to be taken from A Rush Of Blood To The Head.

The track will be released on the 24th of March 2003 and will be accompanied by 2 new tracks - Animals and Crest of Waves. Animals has long been a live favourite (debuted the song towards the end of 2000 and continued to regularly include it in the set list up until the middle of 2001). However, a studio version has never been available up until now.

Crest of Waves is a brand new song, and very little is known about - so I guess we'll just have to wait and see!!!

3rd February
Coldplay Receive 6 Nominations!

NME Awards on 13th February

Coldplay have been nomnated for 6 NME Carling Music Awards. The ceremony, on the 13th of February, will be held at Po Na Na in Hammersmith (London). Coldplay are up for:

BEST UK BAND,
BEST VIDEO - The Scientist
BEST ALBUM - AROBTTH
BEST SINGLE - The Scientist
ARTIST OF THE YEAR,
WORST ALBUM - AROBTTH

Chris is also nominated for 2 solo awards - MOST SEXY MAN AND HERO OF THE YEAR.

Coldplay are guaranteed to win at least one of the gongs, with A Rush Of Blood To The Head having already been voted as Album of the Year by NME writers!

Coldplay will attend the event - to pick up their award, if nothing else - but given their current enthusiasm for performing at awards ceremonies (The Brits, Grammys) it would come as no suprise if they could be persuaded to do a performance - with 'Clocks' being the most likely song given it's status as next offical UK single. However, NME have not officially confirmed any of the performing line-up.

The ceremony is being billed as Oasis vs. Coldplay by much of the media, mainly beause they both compete for Best UK Band and Best Album, but it is interesting to note the mutual respect both bands have for each other - which is a rare thing indeed where Oasis are concerned! Noel in particular has a good relationship with Chris, both of them having been involved in the Fair Play gig last year in aid of Make Trade Fair. Chris has shown his admiration for the Oasis in the past by covering both 'Songbird' (whilst on tour in America last year...an appreciative Noel was in the crowd to hear the performance) and 'Whatever'!

Have a listen to them both (Just samples): songbird [ 446k ] | whatever [ 126k ]. All that remains to be said now is....may the best Group win!

The full list of nominations can be read here: BBC or NME. Pah...worst album indeed!

The Grammys: It's Neither The Time Or The Place!

In My PlaceAs reported on this website a day or two ago, Coldplay have been asked to perform live at the 2003 Grammys.

However, the song (or songs?) included in their performance is being kept a closely guarded secret for the time being. It is known that they will not be performing former single In My Place or future release Clocks.

ClocksRumours are currently circulating that the band will use the Grammys performance to get across a serious message by playing Politik - the song written directly after September 11th 2001. Chris has been vocal on the recent tour about his opposition to the Bush administration and the possible war in Iraq, telling the crowd in Miami:

"there is no need to panic, even if Jeb Bush is your Governer!"

before launching into Don't Panic!

He has also been vocal about 'Dubya', talking in a magazine article about the responsibilities of the group, Chris said:

"All we have to deal with the responsibility for is the fate of middle-class, white-boy music. And even that drives me a bit nuts. It's not like being George Bush and shouldering the responsibility of being so stupid you might destroy the whole world."

One other rumour about the performance is that they may play a medley of songs from the album A Rush Of Blood To The Head. However, it seems unlikely given that they have never attempted anything like that before. So it's just a matter of waiting now to see what Coldplay have got up their sleeves! As always, this site will be first with any news about the situation!

More Nominations For Coldplay - God They're Good!

Edison Pop Music AwardsColdplay have been nominated for the Edison Pop Music Awards (Dutch-language website) - The Edison Awards are the Dutch equivalent to the Grammys or the Brit Awards.

Information about the awards is hard to come by - unless you speak Dutch! Unfortunately I don't! So the only thing i can say for certain is that Coldplay have been nominated in the Best International Group category (alongside U2 and Venice.). The awards will be announced on the 6th March and the ceremony will take place in the Heineken Music Hall, Amsterdam.

Coldplay To Perform At Grammys

The Grammys - 23rd FebruaryColdplay will perform live at the 2003 Grammy Awards which is to take place on the 23rd February in Madison Square Garden. They will hope to pick up at least one award for their troubles having been nominated in 2 categories - Best Alternative Music Album for A Rush Of Blood To the Head and Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal for In My Place.

Nelly will also be performing with Kelly Rowland, but it's unlikely that we'll see him joining Chris and the guys on stage for a quick rendition of "Hot In Herre".

It's going to be a busy time for the band, with them performing live at the Brit Awards on the 20th and then re-commencing their North American tour in Ottawa on the 24th Feb.

The show will be broadcast on CBS for all you lucky Americans!

Hot and Cold play!

Coldplay and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers have been chosen to headline this years V2003 festival in August.

It'll be difficult to top last years Glastonbury performance, but having already been on tour in the UK for several months solid, and currently on an extensive US tour, the band should have perfected their live sound and may even have some new material to showcase. Obviously, new material would be great, but I think we all wanna hear Barbie Girl by Aqua again! ;-)

More info will be added as soon as it becomes available - it can be found on the right-hand side of this page.
