1) McDonald's Collectibles
The
spelling of the word Collect - i - bles will tell you that this is American
and that values will be in Dollars. True but wait. The book covers a global
view with lots on UK, European, Far Eastern, Australian etc. Each premium
is shown in a colour photo with name, description, what the item does (wind
up etc) and, yes, a value in dollars. See especially the double spread
of all 101 Dalmations. The foreward states that the date span is 1970 to
2000 but don't expect that to mean the end of 2000 and don't expect too much
from 2000 (see list later) No, this is for the collector who has older pieces
or wants to start collecting older pieces. Especially good for the collector
with an odd piece and no clues as to which promotion or even country it comes
from. As I am personally only interested in UK premiums I will list here
the numbers of sets of UK premiums given for each year.
1980 one, 1983 one, 1987 one, 1989 four, 1990 five, 1991 nine, 1992 eight, 1993 twelve, 1994 twelve, 1995 twelve, 1996 twelve, 1999 one, 2000 one. Both the 1999 and 2000 sets are the Ty Beanie sets.
I would recommend this book to UK collectors interested in the years 1991 to 1996 and anyone with a worldwide interest, someone who needs to know what the difference was between the set issued in Japan and the one issued in Germany, for instance.
