Port and Marina
In Torrevieja, the sailing tradition is kept alive and well in its fishing and trading port. There are two Sports Marinas; the Real Club Nautico Torrevieja & the Marina International.

There is a casino in the dock area which developed as a result of the wealth created in trading salt through the port, particularly with Cuba (which left its rich musical tradition here). Top

Salt has been mined in the area since the Middle Ages, although it saw its greatest glory in the 19th C. Today, residential estates have been built on the surrounding hills, but the parkland has been preserved.

Among the visitors to the park are people who come for the mud baths, reputed to be of therapeutic value.
