A Visitors Guide To Cotswold Churches
There is hardly a town or village that is without a place of worship and many of these are of historical interest. Churches in the Cotswolds date back to Saxon origins and many of the buildings have Saxon relics.

It was the wealth of the medieval wool traders that provided the many cathedral like churches seen in the towns like Fairford and Northleach and many of the benefactors are remembered in the brasses that lie in quiet peace within the church walls.

any of the present churches date back to the 11th century when, after the Norman Conquest many of the great buildings were erected but most suffered during the Dissolution in the 16th century. Churches like Tewkesbury Abbey and Malmesbury Abbey  were bought from the King and protected for the towns people and survived to the present day.
