From left to right it is BarneyBoy he is
the big red and white next to the tv, and he is from Tri rescue. We adopted
him by seeing his picture on the internet. His owner was killed in a
motorcyle accident. He was just 6. We have had him for three years. Then
there is RubyReds, she is almost 2. I bought her from a farmer about 30 miles
away from our home. He has the mother. The reason we bought her, is because
she looked so much like my Jackie who is at the bridge. We only had Jackie
for 2 yrs. She was my first rescue. We lost her at age 11. Then behind her
is Tillie Matilda. She is 3. We got her in January of this year. Her owner
gave her up at age 2. She was with another man for 5 months when I got a
call to place her somewhere. I said bring her to me she is mine. I had
never even seen her before. What a sweetheart she is. No problems with her
ever. She favors my Mona who went to the bridge at age 9. And then there is
Lambchop. She is the newest addition. She is RubyReds half sister. Same
mother, different father. I had no intention of getting her but, Angel the
mother developed Pyrometra ( a uterine infection) while she was pregnant and
lost 6 of the ten puppies. She was left with 4. They had her at the vets
where they were ready to euthanize her when she suddenly got better and
survived the ordeal. They were told never to breed her again. She is 8 yrs.
old. Anyway. I go up to visit her sometimes and I went there when the
puppies were 3 weeks old. The 11 yr. old son was there the day I went. He
told me that the two tri colored ones were male and female. And the two red
and white ones were males. Well, I was a little disappointed since it would
be her last litter because I was hoping for a red and white female with a red
fingerprint on her head. That is what our Jackie had. So I left and forgot
about another Basset. Afterall I already had 3. LOL
Then 4 weeks later, my husband took a day off work and we decided to go near
there shopping and we would stop and see Angel. I had forgotten about the
puppies by then and figured they were all gone to new homes. But here they
still had another week yet, and the younger girl asked if I wanted to see
them. So I said sure. No intention of getting one. And I fell in love with
Lambchop. But I told her it was too bad he was a male. She says to me, who
told you that? I said your brother, no no he was wrong. They are both
females. Oh my gosh. Was I in shock. So I wanted her. But another woman
was supposed to come and pick out which one she wanted. So I left without
her. Disappointed again. But two days later when I called to see which one
was left, the girl said, the other lady had to leave the country for three
weeks and I was supposed to pick which one I wanted and she would take the
other one. So that is how I got Lambchop. Long story, but I thought I would
share that with you. I don't believe anything happens by accident. And she
is the best puppy. She is 5 months old. Runs the house with the big guys
and is totally housebroken. We have doggie doors and I never had to teach
her. She is home about 4 hours each morning with the others and does not
damage a thing. Unbelievable but true. I just love these dogs so much, only
another dog lover would understand.
Here is a picture of Barney Boy and his
sister Ruby Reds. They enjoyed cake and ice cream tonight. Barney is the
big boy on the right. LOL.
I am sending you photos of Sydney, my Australia import, and Soffi, I will show them at our Basset Hound Speciality next weekend. At last Finn has arrived to our kennel, he will have to grow a bit more before I show him, but in time.......!!
