Fairey IIIF Mark 1, serial S1169 was one of a batch of forty of the type ordered. All of the order was for the Mark I which was an aeroplane of wooden and metal construction powered by a Napier Lion VA engine. S1169 was one of five later modified to Mark IVA standard.

S1398 was a Fairey IIIF Mark IIM which was ordered as part of a batch of 39 in September 1929. It is seen after a heavy landing in England. C.S. Snoxell is seen third from the right.

The Fairey IIID Mark II shown in flight here, S1030, was ordered in 1925 with interchangeable float and wheeled undercarriage. It was part of a batch of 36 along with S1032 below.


Photographed at Bombay, India, is this Fairey III seen in the process of recovery after an accident. Note the drain holes which were common on naval aircraft, to allow water to flow freely from the aircraft structures in cases of underwater recovery.

Photographed during take off at Hong Kong, is a Fairey III floatplane. The carrier H.M.S. Argus is seen on the left.
