Remus called me on Wednesday Oct 9 at 9:30 (my time)
Here's the quick download to hold us over until he can get to a computer.
Calling from the Crater Lake area of Oregon.
He made it to the Arctic Circle.
Drove down to Fairbanks Alaska.
Just about made it to the local BMW dealer.
Click on map for a great link about the Creater lake area

Rear tire was showing the wire core, no tread. He also needed brakes.
The dealership consisted of 3 wooden shacks and an outhouse.
The dealer was planning to sell the business after years of service. Remus may end up being his last client.
While in Alaska, he got lost on a desolate back road. He Dumped the bike 2 times that day.
The Jesse pannier side cases fell off and were smashed up. He had to repair the case mounts with a large rock - caveman style. When
he got back to the lower 48, Remus decide to buy a custom seat as well as a GPS.

Oct.10, 2002
By Sunday I should be at my friend's
house in Davis, CA and then I'll spend some time looking at maps and
rebuilding my route. I'll e-mail you the details by early next week.
My Russell seat seems pretty good, the only issue I have is that
it is slippery. If I break hard going down hill, I will probably wind-up
sitting on my gas tank. They say that you need about a thousand miles to get
used to it.
The GPS is malfunctioning. I have to send it back to Touratech and they'll
send me a new one. It constantly loses satellite connection. They think
it's the antenna.
Anyway.... would you e-mail me a link to "where in the world is Remus," I'd
like to check it out. Thanks so much for doing this. It will be nice to
have an online log of my trip.
