Lest We Forget - RAF & RAAF


F/O ALBERT TINDALL . RAF. (Australian)


Albert Tindall, a native of New South Wales,Australia,
was quite an experienced pilot with 115 Squadron, and
had flown several missions to Berlin,Hamburg and the
like. On the 8/9th Dec 1940, he was returning from a
bombing mission on Bordeaux, when he flew into heavy
cloud & bad weather, his Wellington T2520 hit a peak
in the Mountains above Tredegar,Glamorgan, he and his
crew were all killed.



SGT GEORGE M.HEPPINSTALL. RAFVR


George Markham Heppinstall from Gosforth,Northumberland,
was a pilot with No.11 Radio School at Hooton Park,near
Ellsmere Port. On 28th August 1943, he was flying over
Snowdonia with 3 crew in low cloud, when his Blackburn
Botha L6202 struck the rocky slopes of Llwytmor, there
were no survivors.



F/O MAREK O.SLONSKI. RAF (POLISH)


Marek Ostoja Slonski, a Polish pilot serving with the RAF,
Was quite an experienced pilot who had flown operationally
with a Polish squadron before coming to England to serve
with 540 Squadron at Benson,Oxfordshire. He was killed in
Mosquito LR412 along with his navigator ,when it struck the
mountain of Aran Ffawdwy,nr Dolgellau in cloud.



SGT HAROLD MOTBY - RAF


Harold Motby was the pilot of Avro Anson EG361 that on
8th April 1943, crashed at Lord`s Seat, Lake District,
Cumbria. The aircraft had been on a navigation exercise
from RAF Jurby, Isle of Man. He and 3 others were killed
in the crash, and one died of exposure. Sgt Motby came
from Bury,Lancashire, and was aged just 26.



SGT EDWARD CECIL PERKINS - RAF


Edward C.Perkins was the pilot of Anson DJ181 flying on
a cross country training exercise from No6 Air Observers
School at Staverton,when on 26th August 1942, the Anson
hit Rindd Hill, Stockend Wood, Gloucester, in low cloud,
he and 3 others were killed. Sgt Perkins hailed from
Tunbridge Wells.
