THIS PAGE IS DEDICATED TO MY LATE STEPFATHER
JOHN JAMES `JACK` DUFF. 1931 - 2003.
Dad who was ex-Royal Engineers had seen active service in Korea 1950-53
and despite being injured in a mortar attack in the truck he was driving, and
being captured for a while by the north Korean army, he always looked on
the brighter side of life.
He had a great sense of humour. His hobbies and interest were fishing,
cars,trucks & boats,and we shared many happy times when I was a youngster
participating in these ventures & misadventures,he was a great father and
no matter what my interests were at the time, be it boats,planes or cars,
he always got involved.
As you will have noted from my homepage, in 1972 while on the moors
above Carrbrook,Stalybridge,I found the crash site of a USN Liberator,
and this started a whole new adventure. Dad said lets go and take a look,
and along with Mum and pet hound Tanya, we all set off for the plane
wreck.
The rest as they say is history, and despite suffering a heart attack in the
late 1980s, having had a triple by-pass operation, Dad joined me from 1991
until around 1995 in some of my aircraft wreck hunting expeditions, he
loved the outdoors and in all he went to around a dozen wreck sites in the
Peak District and Yorkshire Dales.
