musgrave1@supanet.com | 28-10-2008 - 22:39 Hi Derek
I have just found your guest book. My mates and i were regular friday nighters at the Edinburgh Palladium in the 1950s. we all loved Lexy and missed him verym much. Friday nights were great nights and then on to the Palais in Fountainbridge where we met the Moxon girls. I remember Corinne Gordon and Morag McNeil - Morag married a mate of mine (Ted Hawes) and went to live in London. I missed the wedding as i was working away. Nothing can compare with what we called real variety with Lexy, Jack Milroy and Mary Lee. The last nights before theymoved on to another city were terrific
Thanks for bringing back memories to an old guy. |

Dannycampbell4633@hotmail.com | 25-09-2008 - 01:29 Hi all
I had the pleasure of seeing billy jeffrey at the pavillion.updating lex's gags to the current celtic/rangers football players and managers .He was tremendous at being lex mclean , close your eyes and listen lex was there with you alright.
My favourite sketch was when the woman says to the audience I have 8 children and i hope i'm not pregnant again ,i'm keeping my fingers crossed and lex replied ...pity it wasn't your legs you kept crossed. good old scottish humour at its cleanest best..king of the belly laughs ok.both lex and billy were tremendous entertainers and have left a void in the entertainment world i'm glad i caught the tail end of it before it disappears forever. long live johnny beattie. great site ..as the man says i'll be back... |

ewanlumsden@gmail.com | 08-07-2007 - 19:00 To Derek,
I have just returned from Japan after two years of teaching and i am sorry to see that even after the info i have given you on the late Billy Jeffrey and also it seems the info his son has given you,he is still refferd to as a clubland comedian in the "master of the belly laugh" section.
I think it only fair that you perhaps change order in which you have placed the people who aparantly keep Lex's name alive...i have seen footage of the other tributes and they dont come close to Mr Jeffrey's.
