 REMEMBERING THE "OLD DAYS"

BARNSTAPLE is a good sized town
 in North Devon.
 Well known for BUTCHER'S ROW...
where many butchers shops
trade quite happilly side by side.
These are some of the photos
taken on a morning visit in July 2008.

Sidmouth is a resort on the east coast of Devon.

These are photos taken in April 2007,

on a dry and warm, hazy day,

so photos are not that brilliant.

Traffic cross this ford where the water is not too deep.

Sidmouth has a lot of very old buildings,

 and some interesting windows,

so a walk away from the seafront

and beach is quite intriguing.

Dartmouth is another Devonshire resort

 on the south coast.

This is the Dartmouth "Butterwalk"...

one of many very old buildings.

Dartmouth "Boat Float"...the inner harbour.

View with the ferry which crosses the

 river Dart between

Dartmouth and Kingswear(opposite)

This, I am told, is the world's largest

 privately owned yacht,

which called in at Dartmouth,

on a dull September 2007 morning.

Woodland in Bishopsteignton area.

This is the interior of a quaint old pub in Bishopsteignton,
where we had a light lunch after our walk
in the woodland area around this village.

The above 5 photos

were taken at Shaldon

 in July 2006.....

showing professional fishermen

trying to catch fish without success.

A horse drawn narrowboat on the Tiverton canal.

A walk in the woods at
Watcombe (Torquay)
in January 2006.

Torquay, viewed from across Corbyn Head beach.

This is a very popular beach for  winkle collectors.

Cockwood Harbour at low tide,

where the swans are searching for fresh water,

and finding rainwater to drink from the small boats.

Boats at Kingsbridge, in the South Hams Area

 of South Devon.

Boats in a cove near home.
(Photo taken on my
2mp mobile phone camera.)

Green beached boat at Shaldon.

 Photo below is of

the Ness beach at Shaldon.

This is a view across the River Teign, showing the

yellow fields of rapeseed flowers.

A view across the River Teign, from an excellent pub called

Coombe Cellars. A wonderful location for eating out.

This is a view from the road
 near to my house,
 looking over the river Teign
 towards Teignmouth.
Next pic is same view
at slightly different angle.

Pic below is view over the
 Teign from Coombe Cellars.

A view across the River Teign,

 taken at sunset.

Next photo is of one of the quaint cottages in Coffinswell.

Most are thatched roofed, but this one is not.

All gardens in the village are well cared for,

with some stunning displays of colour.

The Linny Pub at Coffinswell......a very popular place,

for a nice quiet lunch or a drink at any time.

These pictures were taken in 2003

on a Sunday morning stroll.

A garden view at Coffinswell.
   (No, it wasn't raining...
I've just added bubbles!!)

Coffinswell thatched cottage

Coffinswell is an extremely pretty little village, only just over a mile from my house, where the majority of the houses have thatched roofs.

Pretty butterfly seen in garden.

Old Tudor House at Coffinswell

A lovely old building....looks in pretty good condition too.

       Wind turbines.........these three are at

a farm in Bradworthy,

 in North Devon.

At present, this is quite an unusual site

 to be seen in England.

SHEEPWASH.....a small village in North Devon.......
recently voted as the best kept small village (2005)
Many thatched cottages, a church and chapel,
 a pub and village square,
but I don't know where they wash the sheep!!!

Ducks on the pond,
in the town park.....early one Saturday morning,
 enjoying the sun.

Stover Park, near Newton Abbot.

This is a lovely place to visit on a Sunday afternoon,
if you are a local. like myself.

Wildlife at Stover

The woods are a fine place to hunt for wild mushrooms of all sorts,
but beware of the poisonous ones.
If you are interested in photos of mushrooms and fungi,
you can see a lot of great pictures at:-

The lake at Stover.
Some beautiful scenery here,
and plenty of wildlife to see.
