Latest news

  • Worksop Town recovered from the shock of a fourth minute goal by Paget Rangers to turn the tables and record a 2-1 victory at the Vale Stadium. The hosts got off to the best possible start when Kirk Maragh broke through the Tigers defence, controlled the ball on his chest and lobbed the ball over the advancing Jamie Holmshaw. Worksop responded in positive fashion and duly levelled the scores after 16 minutes when a free flowing move involving four players ended with leading scorer Kirk Jackson turning and firing home from 12 yards. Steve Johnson struck the home crossbar just before the interval but then the Tigers piled on the pressure after the break. The irrepressible Jackson created the winning goal after 65 minutes when he flicked the ball onto Adam Marsh whose shot hit the post before Chris Bettney steered home the loose ball. The woodwork twice came to Paget’s rescue as Worksop continued to force the pace in the later stages.

  • After all the speculation regarding Chris Waddle and a call-up into the England semi-professional side, UniBond League representative manager Roly Howard has selected the former England star in his squad that takes on the FA XI.

  • Worksop Town's latest signing, Mark Platts from Torquay United, featured for most of last season in the South Coast club's first team squad making 22 Football League appearances although most of those were from the subs bench. He also appeared twice in the FA Premiership for his first club Sheffield Wednesday in the 1995/96 eason playing alongside Chris Waddle with whom he now links up with again at Worksop.

  • A new season hits us! Sadly having been off line for a while I have not been able to update the website as much as I would have hoped. I return to the fray with the Tigers putting together some wonderful results, including the league record 12 - 0 demolition of Frickley. As it stands we have just lost away against Colwyn Bay, it seems that our defence needs some sorting out at the moment as we are beginning to leak some bad goals.

  • UPDATE fixtures updated for the 2000/01 season.
