Part 2

Making the Pendulum

10. Create a new layer naming it dome. With the preset shape tool ellipse, foreground & background set to the Metallic 2 gradient, angle 90, repeats 0, draw your ellipse starting at 110, 232 and finishing at 122, 258. Effects/Texture effects/Sculpture using the silver preset but at these settings.

11. Create a new layer naming it dome2. With the preset shapes tool at the previous settings draw an ellipse starting at 288, 232 and ending at 300, 258. Apply the same texture effect as in step 10.

12. Create a new layer naming it pillar top l, with the preset shapes tool, rectangle, with the same gradient as in step 10, starting at 90, 246 draw out your ellipse to 142, 260. Colours/Adjust/Gamma correction, press the reset button at the bottom right of the window, make sure the link box is checked and set the amount to 0.60, this should be the same amount for all 3 colours. Create a new layer naming it pillar top r, draw another rectangle starting at 268, 246 ending at 320, 260. Colours/Adjust/Gamma correction with the same settings as before.

13. Create a new layer naming it pillar l. Set the foreground to #F5E2CF and background white, use the foreground/background gradient for the foreground & background, angle 90, repeat 1 on the preset shape tool, rectangle, antialias checked, start at 98, 260 and draw out to 134, 450. Selections/select all, then with the selection tool click on the pillar to float, Selections/invert, effects/3 effects/Drop shadow at these settings

Apply the drop shadow again changing the vertical to 2, horizontal 4 and opacity to 40. Selections/Select none. Colours/Adjust/Gamma correction at 0.70.

14. Create a new layer naming it pillar r. With the preset shape tool settings as above. Start at 276, 260 and draw out to 312, 450. Selections/select all, then with the selection tool click on the pillar to float, Selections/invert, effects/3 effects/Drop shadow using the settings in the above screen shot, apply drop shadow again changing vertical to 2, horizontal 4 and opacity to 40. Selections/Select none. Colours/Adjust/Gamma correction at 0.70.

15. In the layer palette click the glasses of all the layers expect the 2 pillar layers to make invisible, merge visible and rename pillars. Make this layer invisible then click on the glasses of the 2 pillar top layers and the 2 dome layers to make visible, merge visible and rename to pillar tops. Effects/3D effects/Drop shadow, vertical 4, horizontal 0, opacity 80, blur 8.6, colour black. In the layer palette drag the pillar tops layer above the pillars layer. Make sure you are working on the pillars layer and with the deformation tool, use the top center box to drag up so that the shading becomes invisible.

16. Make sure you are still on the pillars layer, with the selection tool, ellipse, antialias checked draw an ellipse starting at 116, 433 out to 141, 449, Selections/ invert, magnify your image and with the eraser rub out the bottom part of the pillar. Selections/select none, use the selection tool again and draw another ellipse starting at 294, 433 out to 318, 449, selections/invert, again erase the bottom of the right hand pillar. Selections/select none.

17. Create a new layer naming it pendulum, with the preset shape tool set to rectangle, antialias checked, metallic 2 gradient, angle 90, repeats 0, for the foreground and background. Start at 190, 263 and draw out to 220, 392. Colours/Adjust/Gamma correction set to 0.60. Create a new layer naming it pend2. With the preset shapes tool at the same settings draw out a rectangle starting at 185,292 and draw out to 225, 300. Colours/Adjust/Gamma correction set to 0.60. Effects/3D effects/Drop shadow, vertical -4, horizontal 0, opacity 80, blur 8.6.

18. Create a new layer naming it pend3. Use the preset shapes tool at the same settings and draw a rectangle starting at 220, 312 and draw out to 235, 392. With the deformation tool hold the shift button while dragging down the top left box and the push in the bottom right box. Colours/Adjust/Gamma correction set to 0.60.

Create a new layer naming it pend4. Use the preset shapes tool at the same settings and draw a rectangle starting at 175, 312 and draw out to 190, 392. Use the deformation tool to reflect the same shaping as for the right hand side. Colours/Adjust/Gamma correction set to 0.60. Create a new layer naming it pend5. Use the preset shapes tool at the same settings and draw a rectangle starting at 202, 312 out to 210, 392. Colours/Adjust/Gamma correction set to 0.60. In the layer palette click the glasses on all the layers except the pendulum and pend1 through to pend5 invisible. Merge visible and rename to pendulum. Bring all the other layers back into view.

19. Create a new layer naming it ball r. With the preset shape tool set to the red sphere, retain style checked, start at 232, 360 and draw out to 276, 404. Colours/Adjust/Channel mixer. Click the reset button in the bottom left corner, check the monochrome box and adjust the constant to 3. Colours/Adjust/Gamma correction set to 0.50.

Create a new layer naming it ball l. With the preset shape tool set to the red sphere, start at 134, 360 and draw out to 178, 404. Repeat the channel mixer and gamma correction as above.

Create a new layer naming it ball m. With the preset shape tool set to the red sphere, start at 183, 380 and draw out to 227, 424. Repeat the channel mixer and gamma correction as above.

20. Create a new layer naming it ball line. With the draw tool set to bezier curve, width 6, foreground metallic gradient, angle 90, repeats 0, background nulled. Start at 231, 382 and draw out to 277, 382. click the line on the bottom edge left of centre and again on the bottom line right of center.

Selections/select all, with the selection tool click on the line to float, effects/3D effects cutout, vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 75, blur 2.5. While still floating repeat the cutout but change the vertical and horizontal to -1. While still on the line layer Ctrl+C to copy, Crtl+E to paste as new selection, place the second line in the same position on the middle ball. Ctrl+E again and place the third line onto the left hand ball.

By clicking on the glasses in the layer palette make all but the pendulum, balls and line layers invisible, merge visible and rename to pendulum.

Bring all the other layers back in to view. In the layer palette drag the pendulum layer to below the pillar layer.
