By doing this tutorial you agree to my
terms of use, however the
resulting image is yours to do with how ever you please.
Screen shots were taken from PSP7, Super BladePro and
KPT Shapeshifter and as such have their own copyright.
Adding the Chain
The chain used is my own creation which
can be obtained here.
OK, so you have made your locket and have
merged all layers visible. Press shift+D, this will
duplicate your working image, you can now close the
original. I do this in case I save and forget to rename
it, the amount of times I've done this and over written an
existing image *s* We will resize it as it is probably too
big as it is. Go to Image/resize, resize to 70%, uncheck
resize all layers and check maintain aspect ratio.
Effects/Sharpen/Unsharp mask, radius 1.00, strength 75,
clipping 0. Create a new layer. With the picture tube tool
select my Di_chain1 tube, make sure it has saved to these
settings -

Starting at the chain loop draw out your
chain until it comes round to where you started. We will
now erase parts of the chain. Click on your merged locket
layer Selections/Select all, Selections/Float, Selections/Defloat,
using this method you will only erase parts of the chain
that overlap the locket. Now click on the top chain layer,
don't forget this bit otherwise you'll start to erase your
locket. With the eraser tool erase the parts of the chain
that you want to be unseen, don't forget to do the part of
the chain that goes through the loop, this will make it
look more realistic.

Merge all visible layers and there you
have your completed locket.
Closed Locket KPT
ShapeShifter
This is the image I used as the top mask
in KPT5

Work through step 1 on page
1 but do not duplicate the rim layer. Work step 2 to
make the chain ring and to apply the ShapeShifter preset.
Because the canvas is too big copy the rim and paste as
new image, no not use CRTL+D as this will duplicate the
entire area whereas we need just the locket. You can now
close the original and work on the pasted locket. With the magic wand click the inside of the locket,
Selections/Modify/expand by 2. Create a new layer and in
the layer palette drag it to the bottom, flood fill with
white. Selections/Float, apply the second of my KPT locket
presets.
Not sure about using
KPT presets, click here

While in the ShapeShifter window, click on
the eye on the top mask, a browser window will open,
browse your hard drive for the heart1.jpg.

If you use an image of your own you need
to remember that it needs to be the same size as your
working image otherwise it may not be placed correctly or could
have a distinct edge. If you have followed the
instructions your working image should measure 199x313 if not
then the heart offered for download may need to be
resized. Selections/Select none, merge all visible layers.
You should now have a closed locket.
Closed Locket Super
BladePro
Work through step 1 on page
1 but do not duplicate the rim layer. Work step 2 to
make the chain ring and to apply a Super BladePro preset.
Open the heart1.jpg or an image of your choice, this will
need to be bigger than the inside of the locket, copy,
click on your locket to make active and CTRL+L (paste as
new layer) In the layer palette drag this pasted layer
to the bottom. Move your pasted image until you are happy with
it's placing. Click on the locket layer to make active
and with the magic wand click on the inside,
Selections/Modify/Expand by 2, Selections/Invert. Click on
the bottom pasted layer to make active and delete, this
should have got rid of any visible excess.
Selections/Float, Effects/Plugin Filters/Flaming
Pear/Super BladePro apply the Basic Gold preset but at these
settings -

Selections/Select none, merge all visible
layers.
Don't be afraid to play
around with Super BladePro trying different gold effects,
there are some lovely presets offered on the web.
