You
will need these images.
Save
the bark8a1.jpg to a folder of your choice and the bark.bmp to
your PSP Patterns folder.
1.
In
PSP open the bark8a1.jpg, copy and paste as new image, work on the new image,
closing the original. Go to layers/properties, a window will open, change the
name of the layer to bark.
2.
Go to layer/new raster layer and name it wood. Now flood fill
this layer with any solid colour. Go to image/effects/sculpture
and choose the Bark as your pattern with these settings or play
around until you are happy with the effect.

Save
your settings as bark. Now go to the layer palette and drag
the wood layer beneath the bark layer so that it is underneath.
3.
Click on the bark layer to make it active. We now need to cut out a hole using
the lasso tool -point to point, feather 0, antialias checked . Starting at about 50, 60 (you will find this
figure in the bottom left of the PSP window) left click to start and keep doing
this making an irregular shape, at the end, right click to close.

Now go
to edit/cut.

4.
Go to selections/none then image/deformations/warp using these settings

or play
around with the size until you are happy with it.
5.
Still on the bark layer use your magic wand to select the inside (the hole) and
then selections/invert. Go to image/effects outer bevel and use these settings

6.
Still keeping the ants marching, go to selections/modify/expand by 1. Click on
your wood layer and make a new raster layer naming it shadow. Go to
image/effects/cutout using these settings

7.
Finally go to selections/none and layers/merge visible and you're done.
