PSP8  Pixel Surfinia Tut

This tutorial has been written using PSP8 but should work in PSP7. Please take the time to read my terms.

Rather than me giving screen shots showing how many pixels please drag this image to your work area to use as a template.

 

1. Image, increase colour depth to 16 million colours. Layers - Promote background to layer. With the magic wand , tolerance 0, feather 0, mode = add, select the white areas of the image and delete so you only have the outlines. Or create a new layer and with the paint brush at size 1 trace over the outlines using your own colours.

note - for PSP7, hold Shft while using the magic wand to select all the white areas.

Ctrl+D.

 

2. With the magic wand click inside area 1. Flood fill with #F0626C. Effects - 3D Effects - Cutout at the setting given. Ctrl+D.

Repeat for area 2 changing the horizontal of the cutout to -1.

Repeat for area 3 changing the vertical of the cutout to -3.

 

Cutout Setting
Vertical -1
Horizontal -2
Opacity 100
Blur 6
Shadow Colour #E92331
Fill Colour #F0626C

Repeat for area 4 changing the vertical to 1 and the horizontal to 4 of the cutout.

Repeat for area 5 changing the horizontal to -1 of the cutout.

 

3. Repeat for area 6 changing the vertical to -1.

Repeat for area 7 changing the horizontal to 0.

Repeat for area 8.

Repeat for are 9 changing the vertical to 0 and the horizontal to 1.

Repeat for area 10 changing the vertical to 1 and the horizontal to 3.

4. Repeat for area 11 changing the vertical and horizontal to -1.

Repeat for area 12 changing the vertical to 1.

Repeat for area 13 changing the horizontal to 1.

Repeat for area 14 changing the vertical to 2 and the horizontal to 0.

Repeat for area 15 changing the horizontal to -2.

 

5. With the magic wand click inside the top left leaf. Flood fill with #86987A. Apply a cutout at the setting given. Ctrl+D.

With the paintbrush at size 1, foreground colour #637259, paint in some detail. I magnified my image to 1000% for this bit.

Repeat for the lower left leaf.

Vertical -2
Horizontal -2
Opacity 100
Blur 6
Shadow Colour #717E68
Fill Colour #86987A

Repeat for the leaf to the right, changing the vertical to 0 and the horizontal to 2 of the cutout.

6. Click inside one of the central parts of one of the flowers. Flood fill with #210915. Apply a cutout at the settings given. Ctrl+D.

Repeat for the other flower centers.

Save as a tube or in PSP format.
