Sparkly Xmas Bauble
My thanks to Tish and Barbara for the idea ;o)

By doing this tutorial you agree to my terms of use.

For this tutorial you will need - PSP 7
Eye Candy version 3, available free here
Super BladePro, trial available here
VM Natural filter available here
My Super BladePro preset - extract the contents to Super BladePro/environments and textures folder.
Bauble toppers available here

The first thing I want to say is that these instructions are not written in stone. I strongly suggest you play with the settings in Super BladePro to see the different effects that can be achieved.

1. Open a new image 300x400 with a transparent background. Null the foreground and set the background to white. Create a new vector layer naming it Bauble. With the preset shapes tool , ellipse, antialias and vector checked, line width 1, #1 solid, draw an ellipse. Use the object selector right click your ellipse and choose node edit from the pop up menu. Click the bottom node, Ctrl+L (convert to line) then click the top node Ctrl+L.  When you are happy with the shape, convert to raster layer.

2. Ctrl+A (select all), Ctrl+F (floats selection), Selections/modify/contract by 40.

The amount you contract by at this stage will depend on the actual size of your bauble so this figure may need adjusting.

Keeping the selection, create a new layer naming it edging. Flood fill with white. Selections/modify/contract by 15, delete. Keeping the selection, create a new layer naming it inner. In the layer palette drag this layer below the edging layer. Selections/modify/expand by 1, flood fill with black. Selections/save to alpha channel, we have done this to use the selection later. Ctrl+D (select none) This is what you should have so far -

3. Make the bauble layer active, Ctrl+A, Ctrl+F, Effects/Plugin filters/Flaming Pear/Super BladePro. Use the Di-bauble preset. You do not have to use the settings in the preset, feel free to change the colouring of the lights, use a BMP for texture and even play with the tarnish and abrasion settings. Ctrl+D (select none)

4. Make the edge layer active. Ctrl+A, Ctrl+F. Bring in Super BladePro again. Apply the Di-tinsel preset, again feel free to play around with the settings. Ctrl+D. Effects/plugin filters/eye candy/Jiggle, using the setting shown. Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen more. Effects/3D effects/Drop shadow, horizontal & vertical 0, opacity 100, blur 10.

5. Make the inner layer active, selections/load from alpha channel, load the selection we saved earlier. Effects/plugin filters/VM Natural/Star maker. These are the settings I used but feel free to play around.

While still selected, bring Super BladePro in to play. Apply the Di-bauble preset, change the embossing setting to 100 or -100, change the colour of the lights to your liking. Ctrl+D. In the layer palette, click the padlock to lock the transparency, effects/3D effects/cutout, vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 100, blur 20, colour black. Remember to turn the transparency back on. Create a new layer and use a topper tube from the link given. I used the tube at about 40%, sharpened and then applied a drop shadow, vertical 1, horizontal 0, opacity 70, blur 7.4.

Merge all layers visible and export as tube or save in PSP format. If you resize, don't forget to sharpen to get rid of the fuzzies :o)
