Di's Delights PSP7 & KPT5 FibreOptix Spruce Tutorial

Quick and easy Spruce

By doing this tutorial you agree to my terms of use.

For this tutorial you will need - PSP 7
KPT5 FiberOptix
My FiberOptix preset - here
extract this to your KPT5/presets/fiberOptix folder

Open a new image 300x300 with a transparent background. Null the background and set the foreground to brown, I used #4B371B. Use the paintbrush tool , round, size 15, hardness 0, opacity 50, step 1, density 100. Paint the general shape of your spruce in the center of your canvas. You need to leave room to apply KPT FibreOptix..

Ctrl+A, Ctrl+F, this will select and float.
Effects/plugin filters/KPT5/KPT5 FiberOptix.
Open the preset menu .
My preset should show in the left hand side as shown

Apply the preset and there you have your spruce.

Apply a drop shadow, I used vertical and horizontal 0, opacity 100, blur 9.9. Save in PSP format or export as a tube.

Making a tube which has the same spruce but at different angles is pretty straightforward. Copy and paste as a new image. Image/canvas size. This window will give you the original size of the canvas, mine was 212x195.

You will need to resize the canvas so that the width and height are the same. A nice round number for mine was 220x220, check both boxes on the image placement section. Now we need to resize the canvas size again. I am going to make a tube that has 4 images. So will double the size of the width and height so that they are both 440x440. But we need the image to be in the top left hand corner so uncheck the boxes on the image placement section and change the top and left numbers to 0.

Because my spruce looks as though it is hanging down I rotated by 180. You may not think this is necessary or your spruce may be the right way up so rotating it is your choice.

Layers/duplicate. Image/flip. Layers/duplicate. Image/mirror. Layers/duplicate. Image/flip. You should now have an image with 4 layers with the spruce evenly distributed.

Merge all layers visible and export as a tube at these settings.

Have a play to see what else you can come up with :o)
