Coloured Tinsel
By doing this tutorial you agree to my terms
of use.
For this tutorial you
will need -
Super BladePro, a trial version is available here
Eye Candy, version 3 is available free here
&my Super BladePro setting available here
extract the contents of the zip to your Super
BladePro/Environments and Textures folder.

1. Open a new image 150x100
with a transparent background. As we are making a continuous tube we
need to divide the image into equal cells, this is for the tube to
operate correctly. To do this we will need to view the grid and to
change it's properties. Go to View/Change grid and guide properties,
make sure the units are in pixels and change the horizontal and
vertical too 50.

Go to view/grid.
2. Set the foreground colour to white.
Using the paint brush
, shape round, size 25, hardness, opacity and density set to
100, step 1, paint a round spot in the middle of each cell,
don't worry if they're not exactly in the middle. |

|
| 3. Ctrl+A, Ctrl+F, this will select and
float your spots. Effects/Plugin filters/Super BladePro. Apply
the Di-tinsel preset. Ctrl+D, (select none) Effects/Plugin
filters/Eye Candy 3/ jiggle, these are the settings I used.
Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen more. Effects/3D effects/drop shadow,
vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 100, blur 5, colour black.
That is your tube made :o) |

|
| 4. To save the tube go to
File/Export/picture tube. You need to specify the cells, the
placement and name your tube. If you do not use the settings
shown your tube will not work correctly.

Now all you need to do is play :o)
If you would like tinsel of a different
colour, all you need to do is to use the undo tool and go back
until you have the floating spots, bring Super BladePro in
action and play around with the settings, repeat the jiggle,
sharpen and drop shadow. When you have a tube you are happy
with, export the tube using the same settings giving it a different
name. |
| Changing the colour of your tinsel is done in Super
BladePro. Click on the colour of the lighting, this will
bring up the colour palette. Simply change the colour by
using the dropper on the outer ring, this will keep the hue,
saturation and lightness the same. Do this for both of the
lights. If you want to go even further, play around with the
settings and colouring of the tarnish and see what you can
come up with :o)
