Plessey Ilford

an aerial view of a typical fcatory site surrounded by relatively open space.
Ilford site circa 1930

This picture was taken in the mid to late 1930's, and the building at the front right of the factory is the one that was taken down in July/Aug 2004.

a vast expanse of demolition
Panoramic view of demolition work in July 2004

This panorama was taken from where the railway crosses Vicarage Lane at left centre of the 1930 picture. A bridge stands there now but the railway line no longer passes beneath it.  The view is looking across the old car park to the left of picture, moving across to Vicarage lane to the right. The building on the far right just before the houses is 'John Clark's Flat', the black area on the side is the rear entrance turnstile.
