I have had “All that Remains” now since 17 January (courtesy of Amazon.co.uk) and its been a permanent fixture in my CD player in my car ever since. It gets me to and from work every day and I really can‘t get enough of this new album.
I have all three Fozzy album’s now and “All that Remains” stands head and shoulders above the first two. With all original tracks, which are an awesome mix of heavy and soft rock tracks, this album has moved Fozzy away from being just a “tribute” band playing cover songs. You can really hear how much the band have grown since the release of “Happenstance” and this album really has the feel of being their true debut into the World of “Rock and Roll“.
Chris Jericho has improved greatly on vocals and sounds so different. With each album he just gets better and better and Rich Ward and the rest of the band are amazing all coming together to make Fozzy a kick ass band!.
My favourite tracks are Enemy, All That Remains, The Test and The Way I Am but my all time favourite track on the album is Lazarus. I just love the lyrics to this song:
“A silent prayer whispered in the darkness
Without witness words descend and die
I can’t understand a world so cold and heartless
And still I’m driven to live this lie
Frozen voice singing winter’s song
I live through life at the will of the wind
All the while I wonder where right went wrong
Crying out for the end to begin
Set adrift on a sea uncharted
Under a Sky with no stars to guide me
A drowning soul is sinking and departed
While waves of doubt break forever inside me
I’m holding on to what I once believed
Conviction that builds with time
I breath live into my heart deceived
Now the truth is of my design
When your truth turns to a lie
And the pain makes you cry
And the fountains of faith run dry
Take a look at yourself And what you’ve sacrificed
When your truth turns to a lie
And the pain makes you cry
And the fountains of faith run dry
When your dream starts to die
And the fire inside
Starts to dim the more you fight
Take a look at yourself and what you’ve sacrificed”
Its not just the lyrics but the whole “set up” of this song - its just awesome.
I have read mixed reviews of this album, Fozzy fans and Jerichoholic’s for the most part love it but some Wrestling fans who have only heard Fozzy live on Raw have been quick to dismiss it. I agree that Fozzy haven’t sounded that great on Raw but it could be to do with the fact that on both occasions Jericho has been interrupted or it could simply be the set up. I have yet to read a bad review of one of their live shows.
I just think if people really listened to this album (and not just one or two tracks from it) then they would be surprised at just how good it is. You don’t have to be a fan of Jericho the Wrestler to enjoy Fozzy!
This Album is highly recommended by the Rock Wrestling Crew!
