| Favourite
Artists |
Tito Puente (LIVE). I was fortunate to have witnessed the master playing
live twice (once with Celia Cruz, and once with Yolanda on vocals), and
from that alone I can honestly say that he is my favourite artist. Sonora
Caruselles is probably my favourite band. In terms of albums / cds, my
2001 BEST BUYS have been Grupo Gale's, Africando's and Fruko's latest
offerings.

| Biography |
Salsa teacher / DJ / promoter and founder of
Latin Motion (Birmingham). Latin Motion is a company founded in 1993
specifically to promote Salsa / Latin music & dance in the Midlands.
The Salsa scene in Birmingham has mushroomed since then, and we really
pride ourselves in having been & continuing to be the main driving
force for this. DJing since 1994.
A lot of DJs make terrible mistake of just playing the tracks that they
want to hear themselves. I believe that salseros come to dance and to be
stimulated / elevated by the music, and each crowd is different, so DJs
need to alter their sets according to the mood of the crowd, and not their
own! Personally however, I love salsas with pumping beats and anything
that pushes the boundaries that little bit further such DLG, Africando or
Sidestepper. In addition I also have a real weakness for old school
sounds, and if the crowd is right, I will drop a few old classics. |
