The beach

always in my mind

a metaphor

littered with the driftwood

of  life

seagulls scavenging

through broken shells

satin remnants

of beauty

fragile

shattered fragments

waves

that beat unrelenting

against the shore

erasing every trace

of   footsteps

solitary declaration

that someone passed this way

existed

if only for today ...
