Ba gua, Pa Kua, Baguazhang, Pa Kua Chang, or Eight Trigram Palm are all names for a martial art made famous by Dong Hai-Chun in 1860s Beijing. While not as well known as Tai Chi, and famously demonstrated on BBC televison's "Way of the Warrior" in 1985 by Lou De Xiu, the art is gaining in popularity. Ba Gua is notable for the practitioner treading a circle while initiating change via a number of palm changes. The practitioner explores the principles of change as given expression in walking the circle, palm changes, linear sets, fighting strategies and tactics.
