SEPTEMBER 2003  - A START TO MY ROUTINE



 
I think I've become the most ungrateful person I know -seriously.
This time last year, or even going back to the beginning of my 2 year journey so far, I was hoping for what I have now.

Thats weird when I sit down to think about it.

It really has been a good journey so far, and it should keep getting better.
This is why I have set myself a challenge so I can be a few more steps ahead, this time next year.
Except, I'm not just going to focus on the physical aspect of hair issues...

I want to set myself goals for my whole being to mature -just like the stages I'm going through wth my locs.
For this I've been doing some careful thinking...so I can make some realistic goals for myself -instead of getting dissappointed by making those 'new year resolution' type lists, knowing full well that I'll slack off on day 2.
 
This is different.
A good routine is one that works for the individual.
For me, a good routine means being able to have good time for reflection, a way of looking at yourself and then expressing it in work, with the full joy that there is a purpose behind it. My mistake in the past was letting myself lose sight of the sense of purpose and feeling that I had to please others with their sense of purpose reflected upon me.
 
I honestly believe that if I had realised how important those aspects were, I would have been on this track a long time ago.
 
But hey -thats the way things go in life. I've learnt my lessons, and I'm happy for the good of learning from them.

*AIMS*
-A good routine means that you stay focussed.
-A good routine means getting results from actions.
-A good routine means that life is now a better place to blossom.
 
This year, it is time to see myself through to the final stages of becoming a therapist, taking control of my own work and having the courage to build a strong network base of clients and areas to work.

*Time each day:
A good hour and a half to myself, before sleeping best for me-I'm most creative at this time, this is the time of day when I know my mind and body work best.

*SPIRIT AND MIND*
 
-Every day: Use of positive affirmations.
-Every 2 days: A poem.
-Each Month: Work on a writing project.
-Every 2 Months:Read a good book, analyse and learn its meaning
 
This will keep my creativity going, help me to learn to express myself further, inspire me and my knowledge. I have a lot of books but it has been a while since I have sat down to read and take the time to reflect upon the information.

*BODY*

-Every day: 15 minutes or more of yoga and meditation.
 
-Loc care:
My locs have become very easy to maintain now.
I would like 5 inches of new growth this time next year -but its not important, so long as its healthy.
*1st of each month: Finger latch.
*The rest of the time, wrapping method.
*Keep taking MSM and good nutrition
*Daily: rinsing/ no-pooing/shampooing if possible -depends on which day it is...
It has proven to be very good for my locs. They smell fresh, feel soft and stay clean. A good massage of the scalp is also very relaxing and stimulating.

Sounds simple enough.
But it will make a huge change and a healthy routine to start.
