"Produced by the quasi-legendary Alex Newport (of the late, lamented, superbly named Fudge Tunnel, whose "Joined At the Dick /Cat Scratch fever" 7" remains much played round our way) this aptly named 3 track EP is most definitely the dogs dangly bits.

3 minutes of feedback pass by before a voice or tune is discernible. A little bit Pixies, a little bit Sonic Youth, a big bit Fugazi (I assume the EP title is an homage to Ian Mackayes bunch).

This is absolutely tremendous in a "tunes? don't need 'em, don't like 'em" kind of way. Buy now. And where is my Big Black CD anyway?

POINTY BIRDS - 3 SONG EP

"The extraordinarily imaginative title to this Seattle based band doesn't come across as a lack of imagination on the part of their music, with 3 very good numbers to take your interest and the band are certain to take their music in a different direction from here from what I read.

This ep opens with the superb building moments of "My Chauffeur Is Dead", which has a sort of dreamy beginning with a nicely menacing though building set of guitars & an intriguing vocal section. Likewise, second in "...And The Sun Dips Down" has some great guitars, though my pick is the closing number "The Unlikely Event".

The band are apparently in the process of writing & recording their debut album & I really look forward to seeing what sort of evolution they make from here."
