Gryphon Faction Parliament and Banquet 2008

2pm Saturday 12th April 2008

Scammonden Activity Centre, New Hey Farm,
Sledge Gate, Scammonden, Huddersfield, HD3 3FT
Click here to find the site.

His Grace, the famous and flamboyant Conde De Navaro,
offers his most humble estate to the Lady Ash and the Gryphon Nations of Estragales and Lyonesse,
their friends and allies, for their annual Parliament and,
by way of a celebration of his return from his adventures and travels in Aegyptus and beyond,
wishes to throw a banquet for all who attend.

But is all as it seems in this remote corner of Estragales?

About His Grace:
"Never have I met a man of such wealth and taste." The Sultan of Al Jaza'ir
"Without his leadership and aid, we would never have defeated the evil General Yuan's unliving army." Ji-Sang Lo, Aide de Camp to Emperor Li-Wan of Cathay
"My daughters, the Princesses were quite enamoured with the Count, they were heartbroken when he left us to continue his travels" King Agamemnon of Gracia

Some Important OOC Information

The Event

The event will be a Lorien Trust sanctioned Gryphon Faction event, based around a parliament and a banquet.

The event will be held at the Scammonden Activity Centre in West Yorkshire,
15 minutes east of Manchester and 5 minutes from the M62 Motorway.
It's a perfect site for a small/medium scale LRP event and the buildings are akin to a medieval manor house
which is well maintained with modern facilities set in moorland surroundings. The nearest Railway Station is Huddersfield.

The event will be limited to 60 people in total, including Staff and Monsters.

It's open to Gryphons and non-Gryphons alike.

There is high quality bunk space available (approx. 40 places), to be allocated on a first come first served basis,
everyone else needs to bring a roll mat or an air bed to sleep on in a secondary large, separate, clean and warm communal area.
We would ask you to bring a warm sleeping bag/appropriate bedding and a pillow as well,
even if you are allocated a bunk.

Time in will be at 2pm but until 4pm it will be strictly IC froth time,
time out will be at 2am when the event will become Time-ish.

The event plot will be encapsulated around this event and cerebral in nature,
with many dedicated NPCs for you to interact with, it will feature significant combat encounters,
whilst very dangerous IC, we don't expect it to be a player killfest.

The Banquet

The banquet will be included in the ticket price and will be served in the Main Hall by our IC servants at 7pm:

Hearty Beef in Ale Casserole or Delicious Vegetarian Stew
Cheese and Crusty Bread
Dessert Course

Please let us know any dietary requirements in advance.
If you'd like to bring an IC plate and/or cutlery please feel free to do so.

You will need to bring an IC drinking vessel or at the very least a glass.
Cans and bottles won't be allowed in the main banquet hall.

Booking

Bookings are now closed.

Many thanks to those who have already booked and supported our event!

Please find the event mailshot (for all those who have booked) available from the link below:

Sadly, there isn't a viable camping area but there are large paved areas (about an acre or two)
to use for combat encounters around the site bordering the moors,
so don't expect it to get too soggy underfoot or turn into a mudfest.

We'll be issuing you with labels for your drinks upon arrival,
which will be served to you by our IC staff, at your leisure.
We'll also be issuing character cards (should you require one) on the gate.

Directions to the site are available online here
and we'll send them with your booking acknowledgement which we'll send out shortly before the event.
We'll be putting the OOC name of those confirmed as attending on this website below and whether or not they've secured a bunk.

We hope you'll come and that you enjoy our efforts!

Please note:We are allocating the best places to sleep first. Namely, the Bunk Rooms (3x4 and 3x8), the quiet Games Room followed by the probably noisy, Main Hall.

What Happens Now

We'll be sending out and event pack comprising IC invitations, IC travel instructions, OOC directions and information including on the day contact numbers for us next week (week ending 04-Apr-2008).

If you've been allocated a bunk, you'll be allocated a room on the day and your name will be indicated on the door of said room. We'll do our best to keep spouses, friends etc. together, so that you don't get scared of the boogeyman in the night.

If you can't make it*, please let us know at your earliest convenience and we'll do our best to come to an arrangement with regards to a refund.

Before You Leave Home

Please ensure that you know where you are going. Click here to find the site.
Please ensure that you are stocked up with your favourite tipple, be it Lambrini, Rioja, Perrier or Dr Pepper as sadly, there isn't a bar on the site.
Please don't forget to bring a goblet, tankard or at least a glass. We won't be allowing bottles and cans into the Main Hall. We'll have some goblets and tankards to rent for the evening if you forget, but it'll cost you a hughly extortionate donation of £2 each to the Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology (A specialist NHS Cancer Treatment Centre in the North West)
Please ensure that you bring appropriate bedding or a sleeping bag and a pillow. If you haven't been allocated a bunk please bring an airbed or a roll mat to sleep on.

Upon Arrival

Upon arrival everyone must report to the Check In Desk so that we have a record of who is on site.
All you need to bring to the event to book in, is your name and a valid character card if you have one. If not, our ever friendly staff will be on hand to help you complete a character card when you check in.
We won't be allocating spell cards; it creates litter, contributes to the needless slaughter of helpless trees and costs money that we can happily spend on the banquet. We know that you are literate, numerate and honourable people, easily able to keep track of what you've spent and what you've got spell cards-wise. Otherwise we wouldn't be running events for you.
Important:If you aren't allocated a bunk we'd be grateful if you could keep your bedding and kit bags and the suchlike stowed in your cars or in one of the many storage rooms onsite (ask a member of Staff) until we've finished with the Games Room (around midnight) and the Main Hall (2am Time-ish).

And Finally

We aim to do everything in as fair and transparent a way as possible. We'll even publish our costs and expenses here after the event, if anyone is interested, or has insomnia.

We hope to see you in a fortnight!
