A momentous occasion for us as the Eagles make their last appearance after 5 seasons of varying fortunes. From those first beginnings in the season 2000-1 after being carefully nutured at the Development Centre a small number of lads appeared in the 7 a side league at least one year under age. The following two seasons saw fantastic success with the Eagles seeing off any side they came across. The final two season in the 11 a side set up saw the lads struggle. The majority of the extra lads taken on in the first 11 a side season proved nowhere near as reliable as was required. After some initial success when the lads topped the table at the beginning of the 2003/4 season the team found things difficult and too many games saw the heroic lads turn out with less players than the opposition. Well done to the lads and well done to Dermot who has put his heart and soul, not to mention considerable amounts of time into the team!

In the last game the lads did us proud! A wonderful battling performance throughout saw Pentwyn a little lucky to take the spoils. After a hard fought first half the lads were one goal down to a headed goal with a hint of offside to it. However, the lads didn't let the misfortune get to them and continued to take the game to Pentwyn. A second fortunate debatable goal saw the lads go 2-0 down halfway through the second period but to their credit the lads continued to press. Some excellent saves by stand in keeper Declan saw the lads well in contention and his excellent out of hand kicking helped keep play well away from the Eagles area. Battling runs from Niall up front certainly kept the Dynamoes defence on their toes with Mike providing excellent service from the middle. The Eagles defence of both Toms, Josh and Dave  were now proving too strong for the opposition and the midfield battle was being well won by both Matthews, Owen, Josh and Mike. Niall was unlucky on several occasions before he capped the whole Eagle era with a wonderful curling free kick which proved far too good for the Pentwyn keeper!

And so the Eagle Era comes to an end after 5 years! Well done all lads! Well done especially to Dermot. Also thank you to Mike snr for burdening the management job for the first four years and finally to Nick who coached the lads in this last season.
