Capital Truck B v Marlboro  Eagles

Hurricane Conditions at Trelai!

The lads took a one nil lead early on with Josh scoring from a corner and the lads were looking forward to building a considerable lead given that they had the advantage of the extremely strong wind in the first half. However, the ball would just not go in again despite many goal attempts. Things looked bleak the lads when Capital Trucks snuck a well taken equaliser before half time and the lads seemed to be looking down the barrel of a gun.

As expected the ball came easily towards the Eagles goal mouth in the wind, where emergency keeper Declan managed a fine save early on to keep things level. Amazingly, the lads not only kept the ball out but when the ball went up the other end some excellent play in front of goal from Niall saw him register a fine goal for the lads to deservedly take the lead at 2-1. Unfortunately a badly cleared corner ten minutes later saw the ball scrambled over the Eagles line by Capital Trucks to level the match at 2-2. A further five minutes in saw the Eagles defence caught napping for the only time leaving Owen to mark four men on his own and too his credit he almost managed to beat the attack out but a fine low shot gave Declan no chance and Capital Trucks looked to be on their way. The lads were not finished however, and had the better of the rest of the match despite the wind and some excellent midfield and forward play saw Niall swoop yet again for his second goal! The match was poised at 3-3 with ten minutes left and despite more attacking play from the Eagles thats how things finished. Well done to both sets of lads for a fine performance in such dreadful conditions.

Today saw fine debuts for Michael (another one!) and Luke. All other lads also put in sterling performances: Owen, Mathew 1, Hassan and Dave defended brilliantly,  Matthew 2, Josh battled well in midfield with Niall, Allessandro,  Michael and Tyrone doing in fine work in attack. Special mention to the emergency keeper, Declan who did well in difficult conditions for any goalkeeper!

Result: Capital Truck B  3  Marlboro Eagles 3 (Josh, Niall 2)
