Getting Started/Beginners Courses

ARCHERY is a sport for everyone!

Men, women and juniors from all sections of the community can participate at all levels in the sport and for the most dedicated even represent Great Britain at International events such as the Olympics and Paralympics.

Legolas and Robin Hood had to start somewhere so we run a series of beginners courses throughout the year to allow beginners the chance to try their hand at a new sport.

No previous experience is necessary and all equipment and instruction will be provided by the club's qualified coaches. 

There are 6 sessions all together, run weekly. During these sessions the coaches will teach you the basics of how to shoot, explain all of the equipment you use and how to look after it, the safety procedures and finally information about the different types of archery you can participate in once you've completed the course. The club will supply all equipment (Bow, arrows, bracer and tab) during the 6 sessions and you are also covered by our insurance policy. After this initial period you will need to join a club if you wish to continue shooting.

The total cost of the course is a very reasonable £40.00 for Adults and £25.00 for Juniors 10-17 years old.

Please note: A responsible adult must accompany all juniors at all times. Estuary Bowmen will not accept responsibility for the supervision of unaccompanied juniors, who will not be permitted to shoot. 

Finally, It is advisable not to purchase any archery equipment until you have completed your beginners course, during the course the reasons why will become most apparent. However when you are ready to buy your own equipment our coaches if required can offer advice and even come with you the archery retailer.
