Emma's Fave Things

A few Of My Favourite Things!

This is going to be a short section. My number one kind of food is Chinese. I just love the different flavours and smells that a great Chinese meal conjures up. The whole way that it is presented where you can have such a wide variety of dishes from which to choose from is so yummy! I also like quite spicy food. Nothing that will blow the top of your mouth off, but peppers, and sweet chillies are all very nice. Although of course, the greatest thing about a good meal is the company of good friends.

I am a big movie fan. When I was young, and needed to escape from my brothers, or other family pressures there was always something magical about going to the cinema and escaping to another world. The lights would come down, and I would be transported to another world, able to forget any troubles for a couple of hours. A feeling that stays with me until this very day. "What kind of movies do you like?" I hear you cry. Well almost anything, apart from really violent films, or horror movies. I do love science fiction, thrillers, and romantic comedies. Of the older films I love stuff like musicals like Singin' In The Rain, It's A Wonderful Life and other Frank Capra films, North By Northwest, and Rear Window. As for more recent stuff it includes Disney's Beauty And The Beast, James Bond movies (I would love to be a Bond girl!! ), The Star Wars films, and many many others. The most recent movies that have had that wow factor for me have been Attack Of The Clones, The Fellowship Of The Ring, and Moulin Rouge. I really cried at the ending of that, and Ewan and Nicole had such amazing singing voices.

I love 80s music. Who can forget ABC, Spandau Ballet, Ultravox, and Visage? You can? No! I don't believe it! Well how about Stevie Wonder? Okay he's not from the 80s, and he did do "I Just Called To Say I Love You", but everyone makes mistakes! What I wouldn't give to see him in concert. A true musical genius.

Other musical favourites include U2 whose album The Joshua Tree has to be one of the greatest albums of all time, and it's good to see them return to form with their latest cd. Elvis Costello is also a bit of a star. His songs are just so powerful, and it's great to listen to his ballads with the lights down low. I also love cheesy pop. All those giants of the music industry such as B*Witched, (whatever happened to them?) Steps (RIP), and S Club7. But the number one current artist has to be Kylie! She is just fantastic. I should be so lucky!

Ahh there's nothing like a good read. Oh, okay there are several things that are like a good read, but it can still be engrossing, exciting, enriching, and many other words that begin with an e. I like biographies, and historical books mostly, but also good thrillers and anything else that might pique my interest.

Anything that is well written. Major fan of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel. Other favourite shows include Farscape. Star Trek in all its' various incarnations (even Voyager at a push), Stargate SG1, and the West Wing. All of these shows have great actors who really claim the roles as their own, and make you care for the characters, as well as being very funny at times! Aaron Sorkin (who created The West Wing), and Joss Whedon (who created Buffy and Angel) are geniuses.

I haven't been away on holiday for ages, but if I could there are so many places I would love to visit. I have been to Rome and Sorrento in Italy, both amazing cities with so much history. Seeing the Vatican, the Coliseum and the remains of Pompeii were experiences that I will never forget.

I have also visited Los Angeles. Another great city for very different reasons. So much to do and so much to see, and some great Chinese food too!

I would love to return to these places, and in fact travel across both these countries as well as seeing Australia, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand.

Of course this list doesn't cover all my interests. There are oodles of other stuff that I like, but I'll save that for another time, another update. But for now in the immortal words of Mr. Porky Pig "That's All Folks!"
