With the Bank Holiday weekend producing some good weather, the Show Committee hoped that the same would follow. A very damp Sunday evening made everyone wonder, but as the sun rose over the showfield, it was the perfect start to the day.
A number of people stayed over, including the Goat exhibitors who undertake a milking competition, so they have to be ready to go first thing, as well as a number of stall holders and committee members, to ensure a nice swift start to the day, as there is always so much to do.
Many Stall holders and exhibitors also arrive early morning to make sure that everything is up an running, and of course the committee clock in to ensure their sections are organised ready for the day ahead.
By 9:30am stall holders need to be set up and running as visitors to the show do arrive early to make sure they enjoy the day ahead. The aroma of hot coffee and bacon sandwiches wafted around the field as visitors arrived.
Judging gets under way early in the Horticultural marquee and this is an area which has been growing over the years. Bursting with home grown vegatables, flowers, baked produced, wines, jams and handicrafts by adults and children. Sadly it's alway a patient wait for anyone exhibiting. Waiting to find out if they've won.
Show Jumpers, Mountain & Moorland, Shires, Cattle and Sheep all arrived, combed, groomed, prepared and preened to perfection ready for their hour of need.
The Show Jumping takes place all day long and often goes on into the early evening made up of two rings of Horses and Ponies.
Shires come into the main ring at 12:30 and always attract a big crowd of people, sadly with only a couple of examples there wasn't much competition, but all shires were turned out beautifully.
Cattle & Sheep are judged in their own area and there were many examples of Sheep, with a the usual cattle display.
The Dog Show got underway at 13:00 and this as always was well populated with exhitibors and a crowd of spectators.
In the Beer tent was a number of acts through the day to entertain those who had a thirst to taste the range of 'Real' Ales, speciality lagers as well as soft drinks.
The Entertainment ring played host to a variety of different displays, entertaining people all through the day, including majorettes, gun dog display team and a falconry display too.
The Mountain & Moorland ring hosted the usual classes, but was broken up during lunch time with a display of Polo which was well received.
The mainy stalls were populated through the day with people eager to spend their money, or just to see what was on offer.
Classic Tractors and Classic Cars did not let visitors down either, there were a large number of vehicles on display.
The sun shone brightly all day and by 3:30, the Grand Parade started in the main ring, were the different sections get to present their trophies, Shires, followed by Cattle, then sheep, then the Goats all were presented and photographed.
As late afternoon moved over the show started to wind down, with the visitors moving on for the evening, ready for a good sit down and to rest a few weary head.
The show was over for another year.
Thanks to everyone that took part, the committee, sponsors, helpers, exhibitors. As without these all particpating the show would not take place. Of course we should also thank all of you who have visited the show as you help to bring it all together.
