Hi. I'm currently restoring a mk1 van and wondered if anyone can tell me if there is meant to be a closing panel behind the rear lower corners? mine has home made ones and am not sure if its meant to have them at all!! Also the strengtheners in the sills have been cut out by previous bodgers, how far forward do they come? right to the a post or just to the seat crossmember? Thanks in advance for any help and pics would be most appreciated. I'm in Essex if anyone has a van Ican look at? |

I have a 1974 escort mk1 nimbus campervan for sale. Currently a non-runner, she has been garaged since being taken off the road in 2002. Really needs some TLC, ideally restoration. Body work is OK with a couple of dents. Had about £2k worth of professional work in mid-90's. Conversion is in good nick with only cosmetic work needed to make her look great. This is a reluctant sale as we have had 'Pod' for many years and hoped to restore her ourselves but just can't afford it. Drop me an e-mail if you're interested. |

Good to have found the website as we have bought a Mark 1 Escort Nimbus in Cornwall for £100 which requires restoration. We have been after one for years. From new it went to Europe down to Malta and back and later on it went up to the far north of Scotland. At one stage it had an order from the council for it be crushed as it was parked on the road and deemed a hazard as it had been vandalised. Since buying it we have been in touch with Pery Cole who was one of the founder members and who designed the spring mechanism for the pop top. It would be interesting to find any literature about the vehicle and would be interesting to know where to get hold of fabric materials for the interior and possibly if anyone has got any doors or bonnets or a dencent x-flow engine. |

My boyfriend had an original 1973 nimbus van in really good condition. First it got badly vandalised & rendered undriveable by some stupid kids trying to nick it. Then it got towed by the council & taken to the pound. Despite paying to release it & organsing for it ot be collected by a tow truck (who then didn't collect it), the idiots at the pound failed to log on the system that it was paid & it got CRUSHED 2 days after handing over £330. So far the pound are avoiding the issue, despite admitting liability. Gutted. |
