The Guthries lady tells FSR the news......

* Before we get into the routine interrogation, can you tell us
where the Guthrie's are in the scheme of things right now?

- We're on vacation from each other.

* OK tell me about the new album, was it a natural progression or
did it come from thinking I have to be doing something, so I'll do this?

- Had to keep on keeping on, so i took some tunes and Andrew Watt
(engineer and Heavy Blinker) recorded them live in one night with
everyone in the same room.

* Your connection with The UK seems a strong thread of
inspiration, you have a song on the Album about your first tour, tell us
about that please?

- I call it my folk song. It's the first tune on the EP and the story
is all there.

* Give us five good thing about the UK

- Shortbread, Walkers smoky bacon crisps, green grass, good folks, easy
to get around(public transport)

* And five that suck.

- nuclear power, polution, lots of people, traffic, 8hr. plane trip

* Give us the your highest time here

- The Angel of the North is great , been there a couple times.

* and your lowest too.

- Brian lost his wallett and had a couple van incidents.
Where was the album recorded, and who are the contributors and how much
did other Guthrie's contribute?
- In Dale's parents basement (one night) with three Guthries, Dale
Murray (guitars, voice) and Brian Murray (banjo, percussion) and Gabe
Minnikin (manodlin, guitar, voice). Anna Plaskett on French horn and
Adam Puddington and Rose Cousins helped out by singing as well.

* Tell Me about Kate Maki, and what you two are planning.

- Kate and i toured Canada for Jan-Mar/04 and we plan to do the US, UK
and Europe in the fall.

* The Art and Design part of things seems to have taken off too,
what have you got going here at the moment.

My web site, T-shirts, posters, pins, Dale's album art, my press kit

Military School and college after that when I was fifteen, then graduate

and our two kids, Robert (my drummer now), and Meghan (my sweetheart and a
great fan of live music). I've moved around the state and lived on the
coast; but I've been back in this place since 1981...

1. WHERE WERE YOU BORN, WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?
I was born in New York City, my family lived around DC for a while, and
right around when I turned 4 we moved up to just outside of Burlington,

biggest city in Vermont, but that's not really saying much in terms of size.
It's a great place though -- a college town (with all the arts-friendly,
liberal-leaning vibe that implies) by a lake in a rural state...MORE
