The Background of the Project

Way back in the 1980s an amateur movie maker decided to make a Dalek film. This project would be different to other fan videos of the time as it would be done like a sequel to the two 60's Dalek films. In 1985/6, several adverts appeared in the DWAS's official magazine called Celestial Toyroom. The project had begun. Then suddenly, in 1986, the adverts stopped. This is because at that stage the project had come to a total cost of £3,000. The project came to a halt.
At that point, filming had undergone on many of the model sequences that would feature extensively in the film. About 5-10 minutes worth had been filmed. It was filmed on film, so was very expensive. The cast of the film had also been allocated and the film was set to be the best amateur Dr Who video ever produced. Until it stopped because of lack of funds and time.
What made this project really special was the fact that it was the first attempt to make as near professional feature film by an independent, non-commercial film maker. It was also the first to be acknowledged by the BBC.
The quality of detail, sets and models was to the extreme on this production, and in many peoples minds, it is a great shame it went down without a fare-well. This site is the send off, or a revival, to "The Mission of Doom".
